A while back, we realised that we had a > 40% drop-off rate at our coding assignment round where we gave candidates an assignment to complete at home over a couple of days. This had a huge negative impact of how many offers we were finally rolling out. So we decided to integrate the coding assignment with the on-site interview. We give the candidates 90 minutes to complete the assignment as the first interview round. Evaluating the coding assignment and reviewing the design choices, code quality, readability etc. of the code in the assignment becomes the 1st round of the interview loop. This has given us a significant bump-up in our offer roll-out rate.
